Search List: The value violates the MaxLength limit of this column

"Just in case anyone else hits this...
I was trying to clone a search list. I selected it and hit “Clone”. I was then prompted to enter a new code for the search list. I took the current code and prefixed it with UD, and clicked OK. I got the following message:
Cannot set column ‘schCode’. The value violates the MaxLength limit of this column.
It took me quite a while to work out that schCode is the Primary Key for dbSearchListConfig, which has a maximum length of 15. Prefixing the code with “UD” took my value over 15. Once I made my code less thatn 15 chars long, all was happy."
