Customizing Ribbon Office 2010
Mon 30 Mar 2020 - 8:06
I'm having trouble getting started with customising the MC Ribbon.
I've sorted the reg keys out as explained in the “Configure the Ribbon Bar” document, i.e.:
\\HKCU\Software\FWBS\OMS\2.0\DebugRibbonBar\Enabled = True
\\HKCU\Software\FWBS\OMS\2.0\RibbonLocation\Path = FolderName
I then launch Word, copy the xml files from FWBSDebug to the location in the above RibbonLocation reg key (making no changes), but when I then close and re-open
Word, The Matter Centre and Current Document Ribbons and all sub controls have no label.
Can anyone suggest what I’m doing wrong…?

It seems that the xml that is being output when DebugRibbonBar Enabled is set to true has some extra information in it that needs to be stripped out.
Fortunately it can be removed with a Find and Replace.
The file with the issue is: MCRibbon-Microsoft.Word.Document.xml
If you open this file in a text editor and
Find the following
=“Microsoft.Word.Document-_-
and
Replace with
=“
Essentially removing any instances of Microsoft.Word.Document-_- before an id name.
Any other office applications will also be affected in a similar fashion.
This has been raised as a bug(Id 1351).
